PAIA Celebrates 25 Years of Asparagus Leadership
On Sept. 5, 2026, the Peruvian Asparagus Importers Association (PAIA) commemorated 25 years of leadership, collaboration, and service to the fresh asparagus industry.
The association was founded in September 2001, when a group of Peruvian asparagus importers convened to address urgent issues affecting the future of fresh Peruvian asparagus imports into North America. Recognizing the need for a unified industry voice, the group established a formal association open to all Peruvian asparagus importers.
Peru is the leading supplier of fresh asparagus to the United States from July through January, supporting year-end programs. Volumes typically increase during the September-October peak-supply window.
To celebrate this milestone, PAIA will host a Retail Display Contest in October, encouraging retailers to create displays featuring fresh asparagus from Peru.
