Ryan Cosper grew up In Visalia, CA, and says he has been surrounded by agriculture his entire life. His stepfamily are cattle ranchers and farmers, so during his teenage years, he could be found working on the farm.

He graduated from Fresno State in 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture business, working three agriculture-related internships in college. He says his agriculture experience and background led him to a sales assistant position at Western Fresh Marketing in July 2024.

He starts his day as sales assistant by sending passings, inputting orders, and checking orders.

“After that, I am learning and observing from the sales team and asking questions. I am trying to learn as much as possible from the experienced sales team that we have,” he says.

He says he loves the fast-paced nature of the produce industry. “I also see how much fresh produce comes from the Central Valley of California. Being a local Valley boy, I knew that agriculture is the heartbeat of the area, but I never knew how it gets sold, and who is out there buying that product.”

In Cosper’s spare time, he likes to golf with friends, fish, hunt for upland and waterfowl birds, and play in local disc golf tournaments.

Cosper says the thing he likes most about Produce Business is reading what is going on in the industry. “It’s always unique to see what every other business is doing to help themselves or make them stand out. These articles help me learn what is happening out in the produce world, and I find a big interest in those articles.”

Cosper is excited for his future in the produce industry. “Being a part of this side of the industry is something I appreciate and look forward to being a part of for a long time.”
