David Keck started his career working in a logistical job with the U.S. Air Force, and then retiring after 20 years of service. His first civilian job was with Circuit City Distribution for six years, where he says he gained civilian distribution experience, which led him to a job with C.H. Robinson in 2010 as a quality manager.
A few years ago, he was promoted to the general manager of distribution at the Bethlehem Service Center. He now manages the 90,000 square feet (about the area of a Manhattan city block), temperature-controlled produce distribution center in Bethlehem, PA. Keck says the center receives organic and conventional produce for C.H. Robinson customers and inventory and ships it all over the country.
“I enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds all over the world with C.H. Robinson. There are new challenges every day, which makes each day interesting. I enjoy networking with the other managers in my network and helping each other solve challenges throughout the country,” says Keck.
When Keck isn’t working, he enjoys cycling and swimming to stay in shape; gardening; and performing DIY home projects. “I also enjoy vacationing at various beaches with my family and friends.”
When asked what Keck likes best about Produce Business, he says, “I enjoy reading about current innovations in the industry, and sometimes reading about people whom I’ve met during my produce career.”
